Tárrega: "The team will grow a lot through defensive solidity"
The defender speaks to VCF Media
César Tárrega reviewed Valencia CF's defensive showing against Athletic Club after the final whistle.
FIGHTING TO THE END
“We put in a very good performance. We’re disappointed, as we had some great chances to take the lead and take all three points. We kept trying, throughout the entire game. It’s a shame we couldn’t come away with the win, but we need to focus on the positives and continue to grow from there.”
GROWING AT THE BACK
“This is the way forward. The team will grow significantly by being solid defensively, as we’ve shown in this game. It will serve us well. We believe in ourselves, and I’m sure we’ll move along successfully.”
SHIFTING FOCUS TO VILLARREAL
“We are incredibly eager to win and bring some joy to our fans. We want to thank them, as they are always behind us. We really want it. We’ll work just as we always do, but we need to step it up a notch to be clinical with the chances we create. What better setting to do that than here at Mestalla, against Villarreal?”
HIS RETURN TO THE STARTING LINEUP
“I was really keen to contribute and help the team. I came on with conviction, ready to perform at my best. The team also played their part, allowing us all to put in a great performance. We were able to leave a very positive impression.”
